"A gripping, first-rate epic..."

Saboe’s ambitious fictionmixes ancient mysticism with science fiction

During the Great Awakening, civilization undergoes a spontaneous transition from primitive to advanced thought and technology with no logical explanation. There are some who…adhere to the school of Cosmic Plurality, a taboo belief that other life exists in the universe, and that perhaps civilization’s new higher intelligence was a product of extraterrestrial activity.

Reu-Nathor, High Minister of Knowledge, convenes a meeting of the minds at the Citadel, society’s think tank. It is ordained that an expedition of ships will be sent out…on a 12-year mission. Peleg, the young protagonist, is slated as Chief Cartographer aboard the Urbat, one of six ships that fan out across the globe. Caught between adhering to society’s rigid belief system and a quest to answer the unexplained, Peleg sets out on an adventure comparable to Homer’s Odyssey. This fictionalized account of early civilization…gives timeless questions new scope and accessibility.

In the book’s introduction, Saboe discusses the puzzling reality of OOPARTS (out-of-place artifacts) from different epochs, which today appear in archeological digs. Clearly, the author aims to delve into mysteries and events that have puzzled humanity for millennia. Here he reinvents Sumerian mythology, stitching in themes from the Torah and adding his own flourishes of philosophy, theology and geography, in sum asking the question: What if, even in precivilization, humankind has always held superior intelligence?

A gripping, first-rate epic that challenges current dogma.

"I cannot praise this book strongly enough."

I could not stop reading! Wow! What a story!

I did not think I would ever find a historical peoples author that I would like as well as Jean M. Auel (Clan of the Cave Bear, The Mammoth Hunters), but Saboe has soared to Auel's cloud. He has that same magical talent for creating characters you care about, then weaving historical facts, human psychology and intellectual curiosity into a fictitious epic that keeps you needing to read more….

You can take this book as deeply as you desire. It can serve as a pleasure read or a topic for philosophical debate, or you may follow the references listed to do your own research into the subjects. Regardless of how you approach the book, you will leave it realizing that it is a profound and thought-provoking work. It may well prompt you to challenge your own beliefs. It will haunt you long after you finish reading it….

Saboe is a master storyteller with a forward-moving storyline, descriptive language, smooth segues, detailed kinetics during fights, vivid action scenes and landscapes that will be as clear in your mind as if they were in front of your eyes. He…resolves every conflict with a logical solution….

Above all else, it is a gripping tale of a lovable group of travelers through strange and foreign lands. I cannot praise this book strongly enough.

"...a voyage into self and a mind-opening experience..."

Take a spoonful of history, mix it gently with some science fiction, add three tablespoons of ideology, a believable hypothesis, a dash of religion and a very large imagination and you have Jon Saboe's The Days of Peleg. Difficult book to categorize because the author has taken a sci/fi plot; but instead of placing it far in the future, it is set in Ancient Mesopotamia.

…Sometime in every man's life, his beliefs and values are challenged, but Peleg experiences more than a mere awakening. To say he finds himself is an understatement. He is shaken to his very core of reality, or reality as he knows it.…

The Days of Peleg is an adventure, a voyage into self and a mind-opening experience.… Well written with excellent research and vivid descriptions making this a highly recommended read.

"...delight novel lovers on several levels..."

"Few writers have done much with such early times, but this massive 600-page fiction can delight novel lovers on several levels. The first level to enjoy is pure adventure. […] Science is another level. Peleg—and Saboe—know a lot about astronomy, math and music, metallurgy, navigation, and other sciences. […] With all these levels there is something for almost everyone. After reading this, you will never again view early history the same old way."
Dr. Ruth Beechick—Ancient Sumerian Expert—Colorado

"...enjoyable to follow..."

"...filled with adventure..."

"Jon has gathered well known and lesser known archeological finds from around the world that indicate early peoples were vastly more intelligent than mainstream scientists have assumed…[and he]…does an excellent job of explaining what this world would be like. The Days of Peleg is a masterful story that…is filled with adventure, the consequences of lust for power and adulation, pride of intellect, and the search for truth."
Beverly Oard—Bozeman, Montana

"...captures the imagination..."

"It is a rare work that can combine truth with a good read. Saboe does just that with this work that is rightly called an epic. With lively imagery, fluid characters and an engaging story line, The Days of Peleg captures the imagination while touching the spirit."

"…if you have a bent towardLord of the Rings, you will like this book.

Roddy Bullock—Author of The Cave Painting

"...engaging tale, excitement and adventure, danger and escape..."

"The Days of Peleg, by Jon Saboe…is anything but boring. The author warns you right at the beginning he's going to do something unusual, he's going to immerse you in a different world view. He builds a image of our ancient world…blending it together with history, archeology, and ancient oddities that have been discovered.

The author weaves a very engaging tale, excitement and adventure, danger and escape, while tying in links to ancient mysteries that befuddle current science….

[He] does an incredible job of bringing these times alive, and bringing these historical figures to life. …I found the book to be very engaging and interesting, and an exciting story at the same time. Truly enjoyable and a book you can't put down once you get into it. For the size of the book (huge), the price is excellent (it's softback).

I would strongly recommend it as a compelling world view that you won't find in traditional sources. The author does a great job of takingresearch and turning into a can't-put-down story.

"...incredibly gripping, entertaining and imaginative..."

"Jon Saboe has produced an incredibly gripping, entertaining and imaginative book with The Days of Peleg. If you are into reading about ancient technology (such as the Baghdad battery, the Antikythera Mechanism, and Macchu Picchu), then this book will delight you. Jon paints a picture of the ancient world that is familiar and yet somehow completely original. Neanderthals with geothermal heating systems; Chaldeans with bioluminescent commercial signs; Mesoamericans with chronometric water towers. None of these things are beyond credibility, as Saboe's ample research and end notes show, but to weave them into a story, as Jon does, is brilliant.

The characters themselves are memorable and even likable. You begin to feel yourself concerned with the fate of the characters and the book is definitely one you'll look forward to reading any spare moment you have.

It reads like a motion picture—one of the funnest books I've ever read.

"...a masterfully told story..."

"'The Days of Peleg' is a masterfully told story where history and fiction collide into an experience of faith and discovery. Blending both elements of myth and fact, the Days of Peleg is one of the most captivating and colorful stories that I have had the pleasure of enjoying in a long time. Five Stars!"
Bruce Lynn—Graphic Designer/Musician—Tallahassee, FL

"...a very intelligent book..."

"The Days of Peleg is a very intelligent book which is more original than anything I have read in a long time. Mr. Saboe combines his epic story of the title character with a most elaborate re-creation of an obscure historical era....
"takes you on several fantastic journeys at once"
"gripping, nail-biting action"

"I couldn't put the book down!"

"This is one of those books where you look at the clock and it's 1 in the morning, but you just can't stop! Saboe has written a book where everything that is in it actually could have happened. Similar to Clancy in that there is about 5 stories going on at once. Fantasic character development and plot continuity throughout. I would recomend this book to anyone who can read!"
Carolyn Hall—Homemaker—Baltimore, MD

"...a remarkable book..."

"The Days of Peleg is a remarkable book that I highly recommend. You will not want to put it down. The author weaves into the story real science such as geology and astronomy. He writes in a way that the events, social structure and even technology could have possibly been that way."
Steven Dickinson—Web Developer at Marshwiggle.com—Wisconsin

"...difficult to put down..."

" The Days of Peleg provides another angle. What if humanity is actually in decline? What if we modern humans are only a shadow of what used to be? The novel explores this possibility in a way in which none other has that I can remember. It takes the physical evidences along with the accounts our ancestors handed to us and weaves them together into an adventure that peers into an epic period in the history of man.

The story is excellent, and the writing is well done. The characters are quite memorable, and the journey they undertake is one of excitement and contemplation. It is a book that is certainly difficult to put down, and one that will have you thinking for some time after it is placed on the shelf.

"...a good read..."

"I enjoyed this book very much. I've had a long term avid interest in OOPARTS since becoming aware of their existence. These items verifiably exist and for the most part are ignored by the pedestrian collective of the scientific community, especially those who refuse to or will not honestly explore them. Though Saboe makes no claims as to the veracity of his composition, it never the less is a vehicle linking together events in a manageable scenario.

I was saddened at the completion of this book. In the days that followed, much of what I had read started to sink in and coalesce into my awareness. The facts learned over my lifetime found a clearer focused view of history and how we got from there to here in an evenly tempered understanding.

If you want a page burner, a more accurate roadmap and compass heading into our collective history, this is indeed a good read.
"
Fred M. Huff—Washington

"...thrilling action-filled adventure..."

"A superb merging of the old and the new in a thrilling action-filled adventure. Peleg experiences all of the trials of an epic hero and remains committed…to the search for new knowledge. "A Must Read"."
Della Rembert—Ancient Literature Student—Baltimore, MD

"...nothing short of astonishing."

"Jon Saboe has certainly constructed a modern day epic for our generation. His use of detail and imagery in the creation of this story is nothing short of astonishing.

Saboe beautifully illustrates the possibilities of their innovation through their inventions, advanced understanding of astronomy, chemistry, along with their passionate quest to learn about the world about them (all based on factual archaeology and research).

Please pick up a copy for yourself or buy one as a gift for someone else. I bought 3 to give to others and I can reassure you that it will be time well spent.
"
Jae Shin—Financial Consultant—Columbia, MD

"...you'll wish it were longer."

"Jon Saboe writes a fantastic book called The Days of Peleg that describes a plausible history of culture, science, linguistics, geography, and more from this time period.

Saboe has obviously spent countless months researching…ancient history, ancient religions, and the sources of many old myths as he weaves a tale of adventure….

I promise, when you run out of pages to read, you'll wish it were longer. It is refreshing to read a book that is…enlightening.
"

"...a likable character..."

"Pelegis a likable character as he is very human with many failings, including a fear of heights. I admire Jon's intentions and I like his depiction of that early world as being very highly educated and technologically advanced."
